What is Aztec Trading & Investing (ATI)?
ATI is SDSU’s premier student-led finance organization. We teach members the fundamentals of investing and trading, host case studies, bring in guest speakers, and provide a collaborative environment for students to grow their financial knowledge.
Who can join ATI?
ATI is open to all SDSU students, regardless of major or prior investing experience. Whether you are completely new to the markets or already an active trader, you’ll find a place here.
How do weekly meetings work?
Weekly meetings usually include a short lecture or workshop on investing concepts, market updates, and interactive activities such as case studies or stock pitch discussions. Guest speakers are often invited throughout the semester.
Do I need prior experience to join ATI?
No. The general club is designed for beginners and students who are curious about investing. ATI Select, however, does require demonstrated interest and knowledge in trading and markets.
What is ATI Select?
ATI Select is the exclusive, application-only division of ATI for students with more advanced market knowledge and a deeper interest in trading. Members participate in hedge fund style debates, trade pitches, competitions, and advanced discussions that go beyond the general club curriculum.
How do I apply for ATI Select?
Applications open once per semester. The process includes written questions on market knowledge, commitment, and a sample trade or investment thesis. Details will be announced in the general ATI meetings and posted on our website and social media.
How is ATI structured?
ATI has two parts that work together. The general club is open to all SDSU students and focuses on building a foundation in investing through weekly meetings, workshops, and guest speakers. Members learn the basics and practice through paper trading and stock discussions.
ATI Select is an application-only track for advanced members. It simulates a hedge fund style environment with trade debates, stock pitches, and competitive challenges. ATI Select does not use real money but members gain practical experience through simulations and strategy sessions.
The vision is growth. Students start in the general club, build knowledge and confidence, and then work their way into ATI Select. Together, the two sides create a pathway from beginner to advanced.
